Bio.: Valery Romanovski currently serves as a professor at the University of Maribor in Slovenia, where he is also a researcher at the Center for Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. In addition, he holds the position of Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Normal University. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Physics and Mathematics from Leningrad State University (now Saint Petersburg State University) in 1986, and a Doctorate in the same field from the Institute of Mathematics at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in 2001. His primary research focus is differential equations. He has delivered keynote speeches and lectures at numerous international conferences and seminars, and has organized several such events in person.
Abstract: We first discuss stability on a center manifold of higher dimensional systems and its relation to existence of an analytic first integrals. The method is based on the making use of Lyapunov functions. Then we consider bifurcation of limit cycles in a model for calcium oscillations in the cilia of olfactory sensory neurons and in a model of tumor growth.
